Cooper, Rex Albert (Able Seaman, b.1920 - d.1941)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 21905 Able Seaman Rex Albert Cooper, HMAS Sydney, RAN. Collection consists of a telegram and diary. The telegram is to his mother for Mother's Day 1941. The diary is for the period 4 October 1939 to 5 February 1941 and covers Cooper's service on HMAS Sydney, including action around Colombo, Alexandria and Crete. Cooper was killed on 20 November 1941 when HMAS Sydney was sunk by the German raider, Kormoran.
