Description
Studio portrait of 2643 Private (Pte) Alfred John McEwan, 8th Reinforcements, 8th Battalion, of North Gippsland, Vic. Pte McEwan enlisted on 19 May 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard SS Makarini on 15 September 1915. He was killed in action at Fromelles in France on 19 July 1916 while serving with the 60th Battalion.
