Evacuation
Description
British Second World War poster outlining evacuation plans. During the Blitz, particularly, the British Government encouraged parents to send their children to safer areas, usually the countryside, away from cities. The poster's contents are mostly textual: The title 'EVACUATION' dominates the top of the poster, and is printed in red, beneath a small black and white picture of a coat of arms framed by a lion and unicorn rampant. This is the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. Beneath the coat of arms is the motto 'Dieu et mon droit', which means 'God and my right'; this is the motto of the British monarch.
