Save Coal, Save Gas, Save Electricity, Save Paraffin: Save Fuel for Battle
British Second World War poster issued by the Ministry of Fuel and Power promoting fuel savings. This poster is one of the 'save fuel for battle' series. With the cost of the war mounting as the years passed, the British Government promoted domestic saving to provide more support for front line action. Many of these 'savings' posters associate home activities with front line activities, underscoring the concept of 'total war'. This poster features an image of a child's block puzzle. In the background are 5 cubes each featuring part of a battle scene in grey and white and a different type of fuel (coal, gas, electricity and paraffin). In the foreground the puzzle has been put together. The battle scene is complete and the main message is written along the outside. The Ministry of Fuel and Power crest in silver is positioned lower left.
