Field Marshal 'Potato Pete'
Description
British Second World War poster depicts a potato dressed as a Field Marshal taking the salute as ranks of potato soldiers, carrying forks, march past. 'Potato Pete' was the product of a campaign for healthy eating, the minimisation of waste, and the use of potatoes, instead of bread, as a source of carbohydrates. He was often depicted in advertising campaigns alongside the figure 'Dr. Carrot'.
