We'll take care of the Japs, mates, if you'll take care of our food...
Australian Second World War poster related to food supply and hygiene during the war. The poster depicts an Australian soldier in jungle uniform with the text "We'll take care of the Japs, mates, if you'll take care of our food" on a red banner in the top half of the poster, and "Dirt can be deadlier than bullets - It's up to us to send the fighting men WHOLESOME FOOD" in the lower right corner of the poster. In the lower left corner is an image of an Australian soldier holding a rifle.
During both the First and Second World Wars, Australia was a major supplier of food to Allied forces all around the world. This poster highlights the importance of providing soldiers with wholesome, healthy food that is not contaminated by dirt.
