You and only you can put "I" in victory
This Australian Second World War poster was created by General Motors Holden in 1941 and likely produced for display in one of their Australian factories. The poster depicts a red background letter 'V' for victory, as made famous by Winston Churchill. The text however is far more personal, addressing the audience (factory workers) directly. The text discusses how the audience figure and they alone can put the 'I' in 'victory', with the poster superimposing a figure in front of the 'I' in 'victory. As such, the factory worker is directly putting themselves in victory. This poster would have been aimed to boost morale and highlight the importance of the factory worker in the collective war effort.
