Eileen Bigland an author with Russian heritage who travelled extensively in the pre-Second World War period. She wrote numerous books on travel, particularly in Russia, and other subjects such as the Woman's Royal Naval Service. During the Second World War, the Ministry of Information employed people such as Bigland to give talks about other countries, cultures, and general war matters.
