Into action
This British Second World War poster depicts the Allied naval convoy en route to north Africa as part of Operation Torch between 8 and 10 November 1942. This large-scale invasion focussed on 3 key cities: Casablanca, Oran, and Algiers, with the further objective being the taking of Tunis. The poster depicts various different seacraft including detroyers and troop carriers. Above them flies a RAF Short Sunderland.
The poster was to show the general public the sort of work that was done by Allied navies, with the phrase 'into action' referring to continuing the fight and efforts on the home front to support those fighting on the front lines. This was one of a series of posters all with the same title.
