Flying Officer (FO) Les Reading DFC of Cunderdin, WA, waits in the cockpit of his Vampire jet fighter aircraft at the RAAF station before taking off on a training exercise. FO Reading was a member of No. 78 Fighter Wing RAAF, which went to Malta in July 1952 for garrison duty.
