Eastern Front. The impact of war seen in the hundreds of dead bodies lying in a wood after a mustard gas attack. The dead soldiers are probably Russian as they were not supplied with gas masks. The handwritten cpation on the back of the original print reads: 'The horrors of a gas attack France 1918 c. 6000 dead' (place and date on original caption believed to be incorrect).
