Ground staff of 78 Fighter Wing RAAF talk to a visiting Royal Navy Vice Admiral about the Vampire aircraft they have been servicing. Identified left to right: Leading Aircraftman Des McGrory of Brisbane, Qld (left, shirtless); Corporal Alec Gillies of Punchbowl, NSW; unidentified; Vice Admiral R A B Edwards CB, CBE, Second Flag Officer Mediterranean and Flag Officer (Air) Mediterranean; unidentified; Wing Commander Brian Eaton DSO, DFC of Canterbury, Vic, the Commanding Officer of the Wing. For the first half of their posting in Malta on garrison duty, the Wing personnel were based at a Royal Navy station.
