Description

Wing Commander (Wing Cdr) Brian Eaton DSO and bar, DFC and his wife admire a bust of Concordia Provenienza in the museum at an ancient ruined city in Libya. Wing Cdr Eaton was the Commanding Officer of 78 Fighter Wing RAAF, which used various bases around the Mediterranean while stationed in Malta between 1952 and 1954. Founded by the Carthaginians, Sabratha was first permanently settled in the fourth century BC; it prospered under the Romans and was abandoned in the fourth century AD.
