His Excellency the Governor and Commander in Chief of Malta, Sir Robert Laycock KCMG, CB, DSO takes the salute during the final ceremonial parade of 78 Fighter Wing RAAF at the RAF station where the Wing was based in Malta. Distinguished guests on the dais include (left to right): Air Council Representative Air Marshal Sir Donald Hardman KCB, OBE, DFC; Commander in Chief Middle East Air Forces Air Marshal Sir Claude Pelly KCB, CBE, MC; and AOC Overseas Headquarters, Air Commodore A M Charlesworth CBE, AFC, representing the High Commissioner for Australia. The Wing was about to return to Australia after over two years of garrison duty on the island.
