Informal group portrait of pilots from 65 Squadron, RAF. Identified, second from left, 017934 Pilot Officer (PO) Gordon Olive, and sixth from left 40052 PO John Connolly (Jack) Kennedy. Both airmen were graduates from the RAAF College, Point Cook, who accepted Short Service Commissions in the RAF. PO Kennedy was the first Australian pilot killed in the Battle of Britain on 13 July 1940; he was flying a Hawker Hurricane.
