History / Summary

1942: year of crisis. In 1942 Australian forces were fighting, with the Allies, in the Pacific against Japan, and in the Middle East and Europe against Germany. At home, the Japanese attacks on Australia made the threat of invasion seem very real. Many different documents and records are created during war. The Research Centre holds a unique and diverse collection of these. The items on display show some of the ways that the events of 1942 were recorded.
