In the blackout: Wear or carry something white
Depicts a portion of a person's body; they have a rolled up newspaper tucked under their arm, and are holding a latch with a length of red cloth attached to it. The brown coat contrasts with the deep blue of the background, and the composition incorporates the text and the image to provide a sense of mystery. British Second World War poster advising on how to get about in a blackout. The title is separate and positioned in the upper quarter, in white outlined grey, in red and in black. The text is partially integrated and placed in the lower quarter, in black. The London Transport emblem is located in the lower right.
This poster is one in a series issued by London Transport designed by Zero. Zero (also known by the name Hans Schleger) designed posters for London Transport between 1935-1947.
