Tally band : Leading Seaman Stoker S A Glover, HMAS Tarakan
Sailor's black ribbon cap tally with gold embroidered lettering 'H.M.A.S. TARAKAN'. The tally is tied into a bow at the ends.
Associated with the service of 25977 Leading Seaman Stoker Sydney Alan Glover who served with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during the Second World War. Glover was born in Victoria on 27 December 1923 and he enlisted with the RAN on 11 March 1942. During his wartime service Glover served in numerous HMA ships and shore bases including the Penguin, Adelaide, Lonsdale, Cessnock, Napier and Kuttabul. His naval career continued after the war with his service in HMA ships Barwon and Tarakan over the period 1949 to 1953. He was also attached to the Royal Australian Naval HMA training ships Cerberus, Gladstone and Colac and the training depot HMAS Rushcutter. He was discharged from service on 10 March 1954.
