Description

Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) Vic Banks DFM of Toowoomba, Qld (left) and Leading Aircraftman Eddie Chapple of Hawthorn, Vic use binoculars to spot aircraft at an RAF base in Libya. The two were part of a detachment from 78 Fighter Wing RAAF that spent three weeks at a gunnery and army cooperation camp. Sqn Ldr Banks spent much time in the desert during the Second World War; during the camp he controlled firing on the desert gunnery range.
