Her Majesty the Queen inspects the guard of honour from 78 Fighter Wing RAAF before unveiling the Air Forces War Memorial in Malta. Holding a ceremonial sword is the guard commander, Pilot Officer Jake Newham of Cowra, NSW. The Memorial, which can be seen in the background, commemorates 2301 RAF and Commonwealth airmen who were killed in air operations in the Mediterranean theatre of war and whose graves could not be traced. The names on the memorial include those of 211 former RAAF flyers.
