Air Marshal Sir Claude Pelly, Commander in Chief of the RAF's Middle East Command, shakes hands with Flying Officer Vic Oborn DFM of Mont Albert, Vic, during an official visit to 78 Fighter Wing RAAF at its base in Malta. Looking on are Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) John 'Bay' Adams DFC, AFC of Malvern, Vic (left) and Sqn Ldr Bill Horsman DFC of Strathfield, NSW. While stationed in Malta for garrison duty, the Wing took part in exercises with British and NATO forces, armament practice camps and many other activities around the Mediterranean.
