Description
Studio portrait of 1762 Private (Pte) George Thomas Guinea, 2nd Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Glenthompson, Vic. Pte Guinea enlisted on 17 May 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 16 July 1915. He later served as a Sergeant and was awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 21 September 1916. Pte Guinea was killed in action on 9 October 1917 at Daisywood, France. His brother 898 Corporal John Leslie Guinea, 39th Battalion, was also killed in action on 8 June 1917.
