Better pot-luck with Churchill today...
Description
During the Second World War, the British were faced with food shortages, due in part to a concerted campaign by the German Navy, who used U-boats to sink British supply ships. The British government introduced rationing to deal with the food shortages, but also encouraged the populace to voluntarily save food. The upper left portion of the poster depicts a caricature of Winston Churchill as a ceramic casserole pot, and the lower right depicts a cariacture of Adolf Hitler as a cheap pie prepared in a saucepan. The message of the poster is that it is better to have 'pot-luck' - ie., leftovers, and support your country, then to eat well today and support the enemy tomorrow.
