Description
Studio portrait of 4313A Private (Pte) William Frederick McDonald, 13th Reinforcements, 4th Battalion, of Nimmitabel, NSW. Pte McDonald enlisted on 26 March 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Aeneas in Sydney on 20 December 1915. On 19 August 1916 whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion, he was killed in action, aged 36, at Mouquet Farm, near Pozieres in France. He is commemorated at the Villers Bretonneux Memorial.
