Hand coloured studio portrait of 2nd Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Victor Joseph Frewin, 18th Battalion, of Burwood, NSW (Originally of Gosford, NSW). Private Frewin enlisted on 14 May 1915 and was wounded on three occassions, the first wounding occurring on 10 May 1916, after which he was recommended for a commission. After gaining his commission, Lieutenant Frewin returned to France where he was again wounded on February 1917. He was killed in action on 15 April 1918. A teacher in civilian life, he taught at Islington (Newcastle), Gosford, Temora and Burwood schools prior to his enlistment.
