An unidentified Australian sailor cleaning a bell of HMAS Perth, moored in New York City harbour during a twelve day visit to represent Australia at the 1939 World Fair. Larger vessels usually had more than one bell at any one time. Another HMAS Perth bell is held by the AWM as REL/07771.
