Description
Typescript of a diary written by 1333 Private Oliver Thomas Giddings of 3 Battalion covering the period 27 August 1914 to March 3 1915. Entries detail enlistment and training in Australia, voyage to and training in Egypt. A separate typescript summary of diary entries, titled "Partial Diary from April' covers the period April 1915 to May 1916, and his active service experiences in Gallipoli, subsequent evacuation, move to France and initial operations on the Western Front. Collection includes additional (later?) typescript of diary entries and a fair copy tyepscript copy of the 'Partial Diary'.
