Description
Studio portrait of 4578 Private (Pte) Preston Gilmore Ryan, 14th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Smithton, Tas. Pte Ryan enlisted on 10 October 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda on 8 February 1916. On 4 June 1916 he died of Meningitis and was buried at sea in the Mediterranean. His death is commemorated at the Hollybrook Memorial, Southhampton.
