Description
Studio portrait of 2873 Acting Sergeant (Sgt) Oscar Rene Birdsey, 6th Reinforcements, 29th Battalion, of Auburn, Vic. Sgt Birdsey enlisted on 17 July 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Euripides on 4 April 1916. On 13 March 1919 he was awarded a Military Medal (MM) for his actions while serving as Company Sergeant Major in September 1918. On 6 January 1919 he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with the 32nd Battalion.
