Lee, Harry William (Lieutenant Colonel, b.1868 - d.1932); Lee, Harry William (Major, d.1917)
Letters written by Lieutenant Colonel Harry William Lee of 9 Battalion and his son, Major Harry William "Billy" Lee of 25 Battalion during their service in the First World War, at Gallipoli and, in the case of Major Harry Lee, additionally in Egypt, France and Belgium. The greater portion of the correspondence (including postcards) is associated with Major Harry William "Billy" Lee. Notable items include a valedictory letter by Colonel Lee written just before the 3rd Infantry Brigade's landing at Anzac on 25 April 1915; also a short 'diary' of Gallipoli affairs in a letter by Major Harry Lee of 14 May 1915. Included in the collection are letters of tribute and condolence to the Lee family following the death of Major Harry Lee on 21 March 1917, also his Next of Kin Memorial Scroll and a letter from AIF Base Records, dated 13 October 1924, recording the relocation of Major Harry Lee's grave from Vraucourt to Achiet Le Grand Communal Cemetery.
