Waite, Arthur Geoffrey (Flying Officer, b.1910 - d.1945)
Description
Collection relating to the service of 406817 Flying Officer Arthur Geoffrey Waite, Group 623, 100 Squadron, RAAF, Australia, New Guinea, 1941-1945. Collection consists of Waite's flying log book (1941-1945); four letters he wrote to his parents while on active service (1944-1945); three letters of condolence sent to Waite's parents after his death; Waite's handwritten account of Milne Bay (February 1943); typed verses; photocopy of telegram and letter re notification of Waite's death; photocopy of commemorative scroll; photocopy of MID notification; and a handwritten memoir compiled by Waite's mother (1938-1958, with some loose notes). Added to the collection in September 2014 were seven letters (3 with envelopes) written by Waite to his sister Margaret (1942-1943); one letter written by brother David to sister Margaret (1945); and an A4 sheet of commemorative poems.
