Thousands of women needed now in the A.T.S
Description
British Second World War recruitment poster for the ATS and WAAF. The ATS, or Auxiliary Territorial Service, was the women's branch of the British Army during the Second World War, with numbers reaching 65,000 in September 1941. At the outset of the Second World War, the WAAF numbered about 1,700 members. At it's height, the Force had 180,000 members. Members of the WAAF are among the 1,570 British ground crew that lost their lives during the war. The WAAF reformed as the WRAF in 1949 and was fully integrated into the RAF in 1994.
