You Loose Miles of Rubber Every Time You Jam on Your Brakes!
During the Second World War, to lighten the pressures of production for civil resources and thus allow greater resources to be pulled into war-related production, most governments around the world put great emphasis on the need to recycle and reuse. This particular poster highlights one such use for recycled products: rubber. Especially following the Japanese entry into the Second World War and their fast taking of rubber-producing areas within the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, rubber was in short supply to Allied nations and therefore there was great importance in preserving and reusing what could be. This particular poster was issued by the Ministry of Supply, warning of the damage to tyres and loss of rubber when brakes on motor vehicles are applied suddenly.
