Description
British Second World War poster used to promote self-sufficiency in the form of growing produce to supplement food rations. During the Second World War in Britain, civilians were even encouraged to set up their own allotments. Posters such as this one were used to provide their audience with advice on growing such crops.
The poster depicts various vegetable including a leek, turnips and celery, growing in soil. A sign, embedded in the earth behind them, states 'Grow your own'. The vegetables are arranged so as to create the word 'Food'.
