Join the Wrens: And Free a Man for the Fleet
Description
British Second World War poster promoting the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS or 'Wrens'). The WRNS was an organisation set up first from 1917-1919 and again from 1939 until its absorption into the Royal Navy in 1993. The initial intention for the WRNS was to provide relief to the Navy for home front-related activities and thus allow more men to be free to enlist in front line duties. This poster promotes joining their ranks.
