Simple Jobs Boys Can Do Themselves...
Description
British Second World War poster outlining domestic tasks boys may do to help the war effort. These include: fixing a tap washer, the care of tools, how to sew a button, how to darn, how to mend a table leg, how to put in a new pane of glass, how to mend a fuse, how to clear a choked sink, how to mend a faulty drawer etc. Each task is presented as a square of text with a sub heading in black and white and an accompanying image. The title appears in white lettering on a red square in the top centre of the poster. With many men and women in the services, domestic tasks were left to those left behind. 'Total War' demanded that all citizens become accountable to the war effort while domestic tasks gained greater significance in wartime.
