Portrait of NX56201 Private (Pte) Ronald Alfred Harper of Bathurst, NSW, who enlisted on 3 July 1940. Pte Harper served with the 2/29th Battalion, serving Malaya before becoming a Japanese prisoner of war (POW) after the fall of Singapore on 15 February 1942. Pte Harper was a member of H Force which left Changi prison on 4 May 1942 to work on the Burma Thailand Railway. He died of illness on the 28 July 1943 and is buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in Thailand.
