Description

European children playing in one of the overcrowded huts in Kampong Makassar internment camp. The camp, run by the Japanese, housed 3500 women and children in only 19 barracks. The women and children were badly treated, forced to maintain market gardens, while their meagre rations and water were often with held as punishment.
