260424 Acting Squadron Leader (A/Sqn Ldr) Alan Thomas Cridland, of Darling Point, NSW, 1 Photo Reconnaissance Unit (1PRU), RAAF, sitting in the cockpit of a Brewster Buffalo aircraft, (one in the range of A51-1 to A51-6), at the Hughes Airstrip, Northern Territory (NT). Sqn Ldr Cridland was later killed on 20 November 1942 after crashing in a P38 Lockheed Lightning, whilst attempting a go around on one engine, approximately two kilometres from Livingstone, NT. He was aged 34 years and is buried at the Berrimah War Cemetery.
