A studio group portrait of members of the 2/15 Field Regiment taken at Luna Park, Singapore, during day leave from their camp. They all enlisted on 3 June 1940 at Paddington, NSW, and became friends. Identified left to right: standing: NX27724 Bombardier George Talbot Mansfield, of Sydney, NSW; NX24088 Gunner (Gnr) Frank Stuart Aird, of Newcastle, NSW; NX27679 Gnr Thomas Haughey O'Toole, of Bondi Beach, NSW. Front row: NX24948 Gnr William Prenter, of Concord, NSW, (originally from Ireland); NX34540 Gnr Herbert McCann, of Summer Hill, NSW; NX19804 Gnr John Burgess Menzies, of Sydney, NSW. Aird, O'Toole, Prenter, and McCann were all prisoners of war (POW). Gnr Aird died of illness in Thailand on 19 December 1943. Gnr O'Toole died of illness in Japan on 14 April 1945. Menzies returned to Australia and was discharged on 11 December 1945. Prenter returned to Australia and was discharged on 4 January 1946 and McCann returned to Australia and was discharged on 20 August 1946.
