Collection relating to the Second World War service of Warrant Officer Arthur Francis Peter Bryant, 2/17 Battalion in the Middle East and North African campaigns. Collection consists of five original handwritten diaries covering the period January 1941 to October 1945 and provide a meticulous record of service of active combat operations and the routines of camp life and training. Bryant describes his experiences at Tobruk in 1941, the fighting at El Alamein in October 1942, retraining in Australia in 1944 and the 2/17 Battalion action in Borneo in June 1945. Other items in the collection include combat maps and diary transcripts.
