Carne, Walter Mervyn (b.1885 - d.1952)
Description
Collection relating to Lieutenant Walter Mervyn Carne, 5th Light Horse, First World War. Collection comprises two albums containing primarily photographs, with some postcards and newspaper clippings, documenting his service in the Middle East. The newspaper articles relate to the Shellal Mosaic and the capture of Jerusalem, and are held in both the album in Folio 2 and in the wallet. Attached in the same album is an original letter relating to Carne's Mention in Despatches and a satin covered card and ribbon, both from a cigarette box. Also included are carbon copies of three short typed manuscripts by W.M Carne, titled 'Around Es Salt', 'The rising in Egypt' and 'Go to Jericho!'.
