Description

An amateur film taken by R V Slattery while serving on the Royal Australian Navy Majestic class aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne. Shows de Havilland Sea Venom jet fighters catapult take offs from HMAS Melbourne. Sea Venom taxies into take off position and catapult take off. Formation of Sea Venoms fly past. Long shot of a destroyer, then a frigate. Sea Venoms arrested landing on HMAS Melbourne's flight deck. Fairey Gannet No. 825 anti-submarine turbo prop aircraft catapult take off. Gannet No. 828 takes off. Gannets landing on flight deck aircraft are Nos 829, 828 and 833. Sea Venoms catapult take off (soft focus).
