Description
Studio portrait of 2415 Private (Pte) Ernest Cockbill Kendrick, 4th Reinforcements, 29th Battalion, of South Melbourne, Vic. Pte Kendrick enlisted on 18 October 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Anchises in Melbourne on 14 March 1916. He was killed in action, while a member of the 46th Battalion, on 6 April 1918 during the Battle of Dernancourt. His death is commemorated at the Villers Bretonneux Memorial in France. Note he is wearing the badge which denotes that he is a qualified signaller.
