Description
Collection relating to the Vietnam War service of 214645 Platoon Sergeant Christopher O'Neil, Royal Australian Infantry Corps, Vietnam and Australia, 1971.
Wallet 1 of 1 - consists of an original hand written diary covering the period of January 1971 to September 1971. The diary includes detailed entries covering his daily routine as a Platoon Sergeant in 1 Australian Reinforcement Unit (ARU) and his later detachment to Head Quarters Australian Force, Vietnam (HQ AFV) at the Canberra Hotel in Cholon, Saigon. Entries on 6 and 7 January 1971 mention Rayene Stewart Simpson VC DCM. The diary also mentions: alcohol, card games, the weather, movies, smoking, letters, and home leave.
