Description
Studio portrait of 4909 Private (Pte) John James Simpson, 15th Reinforcements, 7th Battalion, of Hawthorn, Vic. Pte Simpson enlisted on 19 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Wiltshire on 7 March 1916. He was wounded in battle at Fleurbaix, France, on 19 July 1916 while serving with the 60th Battalion and died on 1 August 1916 after being repatriated to hospital in England.
