Description
Studio portrait of two soldiers. Seated is 2046 Private (Pte) John Oliver, 3rd Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Riana via Penguin, Tas. Pte Oliver enlisted on 22 June 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard aboard HMAT Makarini on 10 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 8 April 1919. Standing is 2015 Pte William Breward, 3rd Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Westbury, Tas. Pte Breward enlisted on 25 June 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Makarini on 10 September 1915. He was killed in action on 5 August 1916 North East of Albert, France. See also DA10136 and DA10137.
