Description

Pattern 1903 Turkish bayonet made from steel. The bayonet has a single edge long spear point blade with an upper false edge along one third of the blade length. A fuller measuring 300 millimeters is on each side of the blade. The crossguard features a hooked quillon on one end and a muzzle ring on the other. The tang of the blade is full width and the pommel is a birds beak profile with a spring loaded press stud on the right hand side. A mortise slot is recessed into the pommel which slides into a bayonet lug. Wooden handgrips are attached to the tang by two steel rivetts. Markings - TURKISH CYPHERS ON THE RICASSO.

History / Summary

The Turkish Pattern 1903 bayonet was introduced into Turkish Army service in 1903 with the Turkish Model 1903 rifle. It was one of the standard pattern Turkish bayonets at the outbreak of the First World War.
