Description
Studio portrait of three privates. The names listed in the Darge register states Yeoman. Two brothers fit the dates of enlistment and timeframe of the photograph. They are: 3484 Private (Pte) Leonard William Yeoman, 5th Reinforcements, 23rd Battalion, of St Kilda, Vic, aged twenty four. Pte Yeoman enlisted on 12 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 31 January 1918; 2485 Pte Edwin St Clair Yeoman, 5th Reinforcements, 23rd Battalion, of St Kilda, Vic, aged twenty two. Pte Yeoman enlisted on 13 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He was killed in action on 9 October 1917 in Ypres, Belgium.
