Description

Portrait of Commander (Cdr) William Henry Farrington Warren, born in Pitcaple, Scotland, who commanded the Australian Destroyer Flotilla from January 1916 to April 1918. During this period the destroyers were engaged firstly in patrols off the Australian coast and around Malaysia and the Philippines; and secondly in patrols of the Adriatic Sea. Cdr Warren drowned in Brindisi Harbour on 13 April 1918 at the age of 40.
